Colonies to the Officer Administering the Government of

Hong Kong.

His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires Washington

learns from State Department that shipment of arms from Brno

Brno Czechoslovakia comprising 400 machine guns and two

million rounds of ammunition calibre 7.92 consigned to

first group army, Canton is due to arrive Hong Kong

5th October.

Shipment said to be covered by through bills

of lading to Canton, and Cantonese Huchau cover of

shipment to be in possession of Hong Kong Police.

Consignment in question is demonstrably in

transit so no question arises of withholding facilities

but please telegraph whether or not shipment is covered

by Huchau of Central Government.
